I still can’t believe I actually had a baby.. I made it through labor.. That makes me a woman instead of a little girl right?! Anyways.. I wanted to share the pictures that my wonderful friend Karlin captured from the day Jared and I became parents for the first time. Giving birth was both incredibly painful and exhilarating all at the same time.

Having my husband with me through the entire process was such a beautiful experience. Watching him wait in anticipation to meet his child. Watching him almost hyperventilate.. sorry babe but it was incredible. I’d never seen him so uncontrollably excited. Its just not his style. But it was beautiful. I never could have imagined how tender it would make me towards my husband. How deep my love would become by watching him change all the diapers in the hospital.. learn how to burp and hold his son. Most of all watching and experiencing him take care of me through a painful recovery. I love him so incredibly much.

Meeting Dane the first time was such an indescribable moment. Holding him the first time, I was not filled with anxiety or fear as I thought I might be.. rather I was filled with the feeling that I knew him and he knew me. A comfortableness I guess I would call it. A kind of love for someone I had never experienced. An immediate ability to put aside so many selfish feelings to care for someone that was helpless to do anything on his own. I’d like to introduce you to Dane Everett Herd, 8lbs 21 1/2 inches.
